Dr. Toby Brooks is a renowned performance scientist, professor, speaker, author, and the creator of the globally recognized Becoming UnDone podcast. With over two decades of experience working with elite athletes, educators, and high performers, Dr. Brooks has dedicated his career to decoding how people rebuild when their world feels like it’s falling apart.
Currently serving as Director of the Academy for Teaching & Learning and Clinical Professor at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, Dr. Brooks brings a unique blend of academic rigor and real-world athletic experience to every stage and conversation.
“Every one of these stories includes setback, adversity, loss, or failure. The question is: What do we do with that? What people learn as an athlete, an artist, or through another pursuit lays the groundwork for the great things they can do later in life.”
Prior to joining Baylor, Dr. Brooks spent 14 years at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas, where he served as Program Director and Associate Professor in the Master of Athletic Training Program. A native of Golconda, Illinois, he holds a BS in Athletic Training from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and an MA and PhD in Teaching & Teacher Education from the University of Arizona.
Becoming UnDone is where high-achievers come to reckon with rock bottom—and rise again. Through raw stories, vulnerable insights, and powerful conversations, Dr. Brooks dives into the pain of identity loss, the paralysis of burnout, and the transformative power of coming apart.
Featured guests include Olympic gold medalists, Navy SEALs, Grammy-winning artists, NBA legends, and everyday heroes who turned their darkest moments into their greatest comebacks.
